The Tiger
Courage that arrives before the plan
The animal on this page is not the one from your birth year. That one comes from the year branch; this one comes from the branch of the day you were born — the day branch, as a reading calls it. Everything below is about that seat.
No preamble, then. You and I have both been called reckless by people who were still deciding.
The Tiger in Korean Saju
You move first and reason afterwards, and you are right often enough that it keeps working. People find you difficult to ignore and slightly difficult to plan around. The cost is that your courage does not always wait for your judgement.

As your day branch
The Tiger is a day branch of initiative and appetite — the first warmth after winter, not yet careful.
What this animal is like in a chart
A Tiger day branch is read as somebody who goes in before the preparation is finished. The Tiger opens spring and opens it early, while the cold still argues. That timing comes through as temperament: first to move, convinced by action rather than analysis, at its best when a situation is new and unstructured. The tradition associates it with authority taken rather than granted — the pillar of generals and founders.
It mistakes the beginning of a thing for the whole of it. Its Wood hides Fire and Earth — ambition already burning inside growth — and that pairing is where the risk comes from. The texts praise its courage and then note, dryly, that courage is a virtue of mornings.
With the other animals
Bound to — The Pig
The Tiger and the Pig make one of the six harmonies (六合) — the closest tie two branches can hold. Day charts pairing them are read as binding: easy to fall into, hard to leave.
Struck against — The Monkey
The Monkey sits directly opposite the Tiger on the cycle — the classical clash (沖). Not incompatibility: a pairing that will not let either side stay where it was.
Allied with — The Horse & The Dog
With the Horse and the Dog, the Tiger completes a three-harmony triad (三合) that pulls toward Fire — three branches that convert best as a team.
Most people have never been told theirs. It takes a birth date, and a minute.
